EDWARDSVILLE — Work is underway on resurfacing Illinois Route 159. This will mean some overnight lane closures, weather permitting.
The intermittent closures along Illinois 159 are expected to last through November, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Asphalt resurfacing on Illinois 159 between East Country Lane near Collinsville and Center Grove Road in Edwardsville will require intermittent overnight lane closures.
The project will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23. One lane will remain open in both directions at all times. All lanes will reopen to normal traffic every morning at 7 a.m.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during these restrictions, IDOT noted. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
