ALTON — The Illinois Department of Transportation is planning for lane closures on Illinois Route 100, west of William Street, in the city of Alton. The closures will be in effect beginning Monday, Aug. 1 between the hours of 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. daily. The closures will run through Friday, Aug. 19.
The closures in effect will allow for necessary repair work in Alton from near Centimark to the catwalk structure over Illinois 100 at Ardent Mills.
Motorists may experience traffic congestion with delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area.
To avoid the work area, when feasible, consider the use of alternate routes. Drivers should pay close attention to changing conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
